LEE IACOCCA 1924 – 2019
By Bernard Bujold
Lee Iacocca, visionary automaker who led both Ford and Chrysler, is dead at 94. He was born Lido Anthony Iacocca on October 15, 1924.
Iacocca was a star and around the 1980 he was well known for having saved Chrysler from bankruptcy and before for the Ford Mustang in 1964.
In United State during the 90, his name was as well known as today is the one of a Donald Trump, Barack Obama, Steve Jobs or Bill Gates.
Lee Iacocca never run as a politician but he could have as he was considered one of the greatest managers and leaders of his time and he was an exceptional communicator.
On the subject of politics Iacocca said: “I may have been able to provide leadership in the political arena. My friend [and former Speaker of the House] Tip O’Neill advised against it, and although I don’t regret the decision not to enter politics, I just wonder sometimes if I could have changed anything…”
His death is closing a page in the world of business history in the modern United States.

HAPPY CANADA DAY 2019

July 1, 2019

HAPPY CANADA DAY 2019 –
By Bernard Bujold –
Canada Day, July 1, 2019, has two elements this year.
There is of course the spirit of celebration and rejoicing for Canada’s official day, its 152nd anniversary. But in 2019, there is also a second aspect, and in a way a more serious one, it is the choice of our next government.
Personally, I have loved Canadian politics since 1984 when I was on Brian Mulroney’s team.
So, in a few months, on October 21, Canada will be in a general election. The question to ask ourselves on this July 1st: “Who will I vote for?” An always personal choice but above all a unique “right” available to each of us.
Happy Canada Day to all of you, and especially good election thinking…

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP COMES BACK FROM HIS INTERNATIONAL TRIP AS A WINNER
By Bernard Bujold
President Donald Trump met (Sunday June 30, 2019) with Kim Jong Un in the Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea, and became the « first U.S. president » to step onto North Korean territory. After meeting with Kim for nearly an hour, Trump said both sides will set up “teams” to revive negotiations to dismantle North Korea’s nuclear weapons programs, a goal that has proved elusive for years. Trump called it a “legendary” day that could lead to real progress toward peace in the world.

THE CITY AND THE ATHLETES

June 30, 2019

THE CITY AND THE ATHLETES –
By Bernard Bujold –
The Old Montreal area was literally invaded on Saturday, June 29, 2019 by athletes participating in a world triathlon competition. No car traffic during the whole day on Saturday, the Canada Day long weekend….
Never panic and it is said that after the storm there is always calm and harmony. And we must recognize that sports organizers are disciplined!
Indeed, as announced, exactly at 6 p.m. Saturday, the police officers removed the barriers and if they had required a long work week to be installed, in less than an hour they had disappeared, much to the delight of many residents.
Congratulations to the athletes and above all, have a good trip to your next competition in Germany, in Hamburg, on July 6 and 7!

THE TIME THAT PASSES…. MY BIRTHDAY ON THIS JUNE 28, 2019

June 28, 2019

THE TIME THAT PASSES…. MY BIRTHDAY ON JUNE 28, 2019!
By Bernard Bujold –
Today is Friday, June 28, 2019, and it is my birthday!
It is said that age is only a number and that we can interpret our age according to the vision of our inner soul, but the passage of time is unavoidable regardless of our thoughts or our will… Personally, I therefore conclude, with my ageing, that the greatest wealth of human remains its youth, but that the ideal would be to be able to think and understand life from the age of 23, as we can do at the age of 73! At an advanced age, we will no longer jump by reflex in front of red or blue balloons (unless it is Ulysses who offers them to us…) and we will better understand the essentials of life.
They say that life is a journey and, if you want to see and do everything at first, at the end of the journey you will be happy to have realized one or two holiday projects. As I often say: the great tragedy of life is that 95% of our projects (our adventures) will end in abandonment and failure but to achieve a 5% success rate, we will have to be bold and open to many proposals.
Obviously, there is always a question of luck and fate that will determine our journey. I like Shakespeare’s quote in the text JULES CÉSAR: “There is a wave on the Ocean of Life, which if taken at the right time to the shore will lead the ship to new lands full of hope and promise; but if it is missed, it will be failure and misery…”
In other words, our life journey is dependent on our environment. Our origins at birth, our career choice, our country of residence and its economy, our family, our friends, our enemies, our life decisions in love as in business, etc. And a little like the adventures of Lucky Luke, that comic book cowboy, we need to know how to continually assess our environment and discover where our allies and obstacles are.
Personally, of course, there have been failures but also successes! You have to accept your destiny and only on the occasion of days of depression, dreaming of what could have been….
Nor should we overreact or take life too seriously! My personal philosophy is influenced by American theory: “Life is a game with toys! Nothing more, nothing less. Whoever has more toys (pleasure) wins the game (life)…” So I act like Woody, that other cowboy in Toy Story and I try to find my place in this game of life…
In conclusion, as far as I am concerned, with a friend and “ally” like Ulysses, I can say that I am fulfilled at the level of my life.
So thank you to dear Ulysses, and, of course, to all of you, for the best wishes regarding my birthday on this June 2019.
I am also very lucky because this year, a new bridge is inaugurated on my birthday… It is said to last more than 125 years (the bridge…) .
Long live my 2019 birthday, long live the new Champlain Bridge and especially long live the “cowboy boots”…
