RENÉ LÉVESQUE AND HIS MEMORY IN 2017…

RENÉ LÉVESQUE AND HIS MEMORY IN 2017…
By Bernard Bujold-
If there is a Quebec hero, it is most certainly René Lévesque (1922-1987).
René had a very journalistic vision of life…
He was deeply democratic and objective in his thoughts, and even too much, and he always analyzed a situation by looking at the facts. René Lévesque also had the character of the journalists of his time because he liked alcohol, women and gambling…
How to remember in 2017 of this character, a journalist who become the most outstanding politician in Quebec?
The project to make a museum of his house birthplace in New Carlisle dates from 1988 when I proposed to his then owner (Georgette Bujold) to sell it to a foundation that René’s friends would set up, who Corinne Lévesque was with me among the interested people. I had also tried to convince Pierre Péladeau to preside over the project, but he found the city of New Carlisle too far from Montreal and he proposed instead to offer a financial gift and his moral support. The debate of the house resurfaces again today as the famous house of Lévesque is about to collapse due to lack of proper maintenance.
If there is a conclusion, it is that the best memories are those transmitted by the mind rather than by physical things. A memory in the mind is a little eternal while the old houses and their contents disappear to become dust …

THE END OF CAMERAS SIMON IN MONTREAL

July 30, 2017

THE END OF CAMERAS SIMON –
By Bernard Bujold-
The notorious CAMERAS SIMON photographic equipment store in Montreal is definitely closing its doors on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 6 pm. If this decision was announced to employees on Monday, July 24, the proposed closure was long considered by the owner. He was, however, waiting for the final decision in the file of the Palais des Congrès and its expansion. Unfortunately for the owner, if he hoped to take advantage of a buy back, the expropriation of the neighborhood stops at the only building located west of Clark Street (Steve Music) and does not touch the Camera Simon building!
Faced with this decision and an unpromising future, the only option became the definitive closure.
Another sad page of history that turns for Montreal in the year of its 375th anniversary…

BALCONY OF THE MONTREAL CITY HALL – 2017

July 25, 2017

BALCONY OF THE MONTRÉAL CITY HALL – 2017
By Bernard Bujold On July 24, 1967, the Général de Gaulle pronounced his famous; ” LONG LIVE THE FREE QUEBEC…” What’s better in 2017 than going to revisit the famous balcony and play, for a short moment, the game of the General … I poked on the balcony and shouted loudly: “LONG LIVE THE VISITORS…
If the balcony of 2017 was the same as the one of 1967, there was however a little less people watching me during my visit … Further more, not wanting to visit the Montreal City Hall without thinking about our current mayor, after the Balcony, I went back down to the town main hall room and sat for a few minutes in the official seat of the mayor, the 5th of the line occupied by his political party. “Long live the tourists”

SUMMER LOVES 2017

July 24, 2017

ROMANTIC EVENING – SUMMER 2017
By Bernard Bujold –
The summer season is the occasion for long romantic evenings and summer loves…
But if romance is the beginning of love, it is necessary to be careful because it is said that “love at first sight” is a pure myth that will disappear like the sand castles on the beach in the morning! True love will be rather the result of a long taming of two people that only time will be able to realize, beyond the short summer season…
Happy summer season 2017!

JUSTIN TRUDEAU AND JULIE PAYETTE – BAD STRATEGY.

July 19, 2017

JUSTIN TRUDEAU AND JULIE PAYETTE – BAD STRATEGY.
By Bernard Bujold –
The announcement of Julie Payette as the next Governor General of Canada is an example of total failure in public relations.
Justin Trudeau, or Julie Payette, should have brought out to the open the arrest story before the appointment and instead of touting her perfect course one should have valued the journey of a mother without spouse with a 14 year old son.
If many Canadians and Quebeckers consider the Queen’s representatives as a waste of money and time, they all have admiration for a mother who is facing life.
Lets recall the story: The TVA television network (Journal de Montréal), using the source of the Internet site IPolitics on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, unveiled a part of Julie Payette’s personal life that nobody of the general public did not know until then. Julie was arrested and charged on November 24, 2011 for violence at her private residence in the United States, a residence she shared with her husband and father of her 14-year-old son.
Julie and her husband divorced in 2013.
The serious mistake of this file is that Justin and Julie believed they could hide the thing which is the error. Today with the Internet, nothing is secret. We must therefore take the lead and reveal everything if we have secrets and want to occupy the political ramp.
Justin also put too much by saying that Julie was a perfect woman even by adding anecdotes about posters in schools.
In conclusion, life is like a casino! If you win at the game of life, you must know when to stop playing and enjoy the gains otherwise you risk losing everything!
Julie Payette and Justin Trudeau often won at the game of life and they believed their luck was eternal. They just lost with this last game…
